    Kaylie-

    It sounds like you learned so much through this experience and through the questions that your fieldwork educator asked you. I feel like I would also be pretty anxious about that, but I can see how it would really challenge to and help you to grow and learn! I also talked about learning more about interventions in my video, and I am excited to do that when we get back to campus! I can't wait to hear about all of the things that you have learned and hear about all of the ways you grew throughout this fieldwork rotation!

    Kaylie,

    That is so awesome that your educator pushed you so out of your comfort zone during this rotation! It was neat to hear you talk about how your attitude about her questions for you really changed over time and how you began even looking forward to what she would ask you next. Retrieval practice is one of the best ways that we learn (thanks Dr. Lancaster), and it sounds like that is exactly what she facilitated for you. I can definitely relate to wanting to learn more about condition-specific interventions before we enter Level 2s. I think that would save us a lot of time and mental energy spent stressing over what activities we could potentially use with our clients of we were already familiar with that aspect. Great job!

Mock Interview Reflection

           When preparing for the mock interview, I felt extremely anxious and nervous.  When you're on the interviewee side of an interview, I feel as if the stakes are always pretty high.  If they weren't, then you may not need to be at the interview in the first place.  Even though this was a mock interview rather than a real one, the stakes still felt high.  Despite being so nervous, I do feel as if it went well overall.  In hindsight, I appreciated this feeling of realness and typical anxiety that I would feel for a real interview because it allowed me to get those negative feelings out of the way some before I have a real interview.  It allowed me to prepare like I would for a real interview without the stakes being high.  I am so appreciative that we had this opportunity as part of Leadership Development II.      Through the preparation and the mock interview itself, I learned a couple key thin...

Neuro Note #3

For my third neuro note, I chose to watch The Theory of Everything .  This movie was about the life of Stephen Hawking as a young adult before and during his diagnosis with ALS, the disease commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.  This movie was originally a book written by Stephen Hawking's previous wife, Jane Hawking, to describe how Stephen and his family came to be who they are today.  Many of us know of the amazingly brilliant physicist, cosmologist, and author, but if you are like me, you didn't know much or anything at all about the journey he took to become the famous figure we knew.  The Theory of Everything  gives a captivating insight into everything that Stephen Hawking, Jane Hawking, his family, and friends went through as his brilliance and ALS began to share very prominent roles in his life.   The film begins with Stephen and his friends heading to to have some drinks together.  While at this gathering, he meets Jane Wi...
